There's nothing better than a warm biscuit.
Slather with butter and jam.

Now, let's do it!

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter - VERY COLD
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 egg or milk for brushing on top of biscuits prior to baking

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 425° and line a cookie sheet with nonstick parchment paper. Set aside.
  • Mix dry ingredients: flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder, together in a bowl.
  • Cut cold butter into dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or box grater. The butter will look like peas once mixed together well.
  • Add the milk and stir to combine.
  • Transfer dough to a floured surface to work the dough together. Once it has come together, fold in half over itself and flatten, working the dough several times like this.
  • Flatten the dough to an inch thick, and use a biscut cutter or glass to push straight down into the dough. Do not twist as you go.
  • Place the cut out biscuits on the cookie sheet, reworking the dough as you go to produce more biscuits.
  • Brush the biscuits with milk or an egg wash (one egg + 1 tbsp cold water).
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let cool and enjoy!
